Tried this restaurant for the first time because I saw so many positive reviews from prior postings on-line.
I was very disappoint. We went around 2pm and they asked if we are going for the buffet. I looked at the buffet thinking ok, since he asked us, they are probably going to re-fill some of the empties.
Well folks, I was WRONG! The food was cold and tasteless. Nothing stood out & most of the buffet items (what was left) were dried up/unappealing. Everything was bland and for Indian standards, it was not even spicy.
The rice must have been there for over 4 hrs since it was so grainy it was like crunchy fries.
I do not recommend this restaurant. There are many better places such as 'The Host" which is just up the street.
Price = $25 for 2 people which is same price for standard Indian buffet.

Zero Calorie Candy from Japan
I was pretty skeptical when I saw these on-line. They are not sold here in Canada at all.
I bought them through ebay and they arrived within 3 days. Pretty impressive considering it was from Japan.
It taste like candy and you would not know the difference. Apparently it's made with Luo Han Guo fruit and erythritol. I know Chinese uses Luo Han Guo fruit for health benefits.
They come in many flavours. I bought Green tea, yogurt, coffee and strawberry.
I like the strawberry the best.
Cost $4 and they gave me a free bag because I have purchased 4 types.
Rating = 8

Mango Preserves -West Indian
I have had many types of preserves and have to admit this is one of those that I really like; besides the "REAL" stuff that I get when I go to Trinidad. Oh how I miss the hot weather....
The mango anchor is good from Charoo grocery. It's local made by Calypso and has chunk of mango pieces including the pod. Not too spicy or masala added.
Rating = 7.5
Cost $5.99

Food Review Toronto - Thai Everest Restaurant/Take-out (Rate =2*)
Location: Toronto ON (Victoria Park & Lawrence)
Food Type: Thai/Malaysian. It seems they are authentic Thai.
This restaurant opened up not too long ago it appears. I decided to try it out since the store front seem to be decent.
I walked in on a Saturday, lunch hour and there was no one in the restaurant. That should have been my sign...but I was skeptical.
I asked them if they had a lunch special or combos and they said they only have whatever was in the menu.
I decided to ordered the following (which are my staples when it comes to Thai food):
Spring roll
Shrimp Pad Thai
Pineapple Rice (Veg only)
Mix Veg
Total came to $55 which was pricy considering the neighbourhood & the place was more a take-out place than din-in.
The one thing I have to say about this place was that they charge you extras on everything. When I ordered the Rice dish he asked me if I wanted chicken/beef and I said I only want plain with vegetables. I noticed the bill included $1.50 charge because of this. When I asked the guy, he said it's normal. What??? I was thinking "normal"??? Isn't normal is when the price includes the standard elements like vegetables.
Right there, he lost me as a customer that will not be returning.
The food was pricy for what I got. Small portion for the vegetables & noodles. Rice was average. Overall, everything was very sweet and not fragrant. I expect more from Thai/Malaysian type food. Trust me, we have a lot of them in my area and this place is no where near to the others on taste & flavour.

Food Reviews - My City - Curry Roti
March 15, 2014
I use to comment and post these such as Yelp and Travel...etc. However, I decided to create a blog instead.
I'm not going back and tell you all my prior places that I had dine but go forward I am sure to share my reviews here.
Today, I visited a place that I had passed by a number of times but never went in because I wasn't sure if it was worth the visit. I read up on the reviews and decided to venture in. Well, verdict was somewhat disappointed. I had high hopes for this place considering there are much better places around this area.
It's a Caribbean restaurant, located on 1732 Lawrence Ave E, Toronto called Curry Roti.
It was on restaurant make-over and the restaurant had supposedly re-did their menu.
I had ordered:
Full size Curry shrimp. - Portion was small, few shrimp but curry was flavour nicely.
Chana & Roti - Roti was bit dry but chana was nice. Portion was very small (palm size).
Oxtail& rice - This was suppose to be full size but it was small and not flavourful. Overly greasy on the rice & peas.
Dal soup - Nice mild taste.
Total came to $45 approx.
Overall Rating (*):
Restaurant atmosphere = 4
Service = 4
Food =2
